ModelCortina (2nd gen)
1969 Ford Cortina 1600E series 2. This car has not been used on the road since 1978 and is in outstanding structural condtion. As far as I can see there is no rust and its had no welding that I can see either. It has had new steel wings fitted and these have been converted to bolt on. The car was originally Ermine white but sometime in the 1970s it was colour changed to the red you see now. At the same time the interior was retrimmed in black genuine bridge of weir soft leather with red piping and fitted with Wilton carpets with red leather binding, This work was reputed to have been done by a Rolls Royce trimmer and is done to a very high standard and is still in great condition with no tears, wear or damage. The wood could do with refurbishing though.
The paintwork has been redone over the years and although it polishes up well and overall looks smart - there are some marks and crazing under the surface but NO bubbling or rust!! The car looks clean and tidy as a daily driver but if the intention was to show it, then the paintwork would require redoing and under the bonnet and in the boot area too. The vinyl roof is in good condition.
All the gauges work as they should, engine starts fine and runs nicely with no funny noises etc. Also the clutch, gearbox and brakes all work as they should.
All in all a very, very sound rust free 1600E that would make a great basis for a show car or nice clean useable classic.
